Baskin-Robbins & Dunkin Donuts Team Up

[New for 2018] Alright, I mentioned the Dunkin Donuts - Baskin-Robbins flavor collaboration in the 2018 flavor guide, but I decided to give one of the flavors a try when they were massively on sale last week. The two things to remember here are: 1) Baskin is owned by Dunkin and 2) Baskin at home isn't as high a quality as their scoop shop stuff. (I'm sure they don't appreciate me saying that but it's the truth. Did you really expect the same quality for 1/2 the cost? hehehe)

Baskin-Robbins Dunkin Donuts Ice Cream
Coffee  -  Coffee Chocolate Chip  -  French Vanilla Coffee

Which one did I try? Well, the french vanilla coffee seemed like the safest choice. I rarely like coffee ice creams but I thought a 50/50 split with french vanilla -might- be enough to make this one ok for me. If not, well, I'll pawn it off on my wife (hopefully).

Opening Shot

Scooped Shot (appears to have a 50/50 mix)

Simply put, this still has too much coffee flavor for me to enjoy. However, it was absolutely delicious when balanced in a sundae against a chocolate waffle and chocolate whipped cream. I went in for a few bites and wound up eating most of it (and then I got heartburn, but anyway).

I made a second sundae and gave it to my wife. She definitely enjoyed it (though she enjoys coffee ice cream more than I do). This was an easy win at 2 for $4.

My only regret for this review is not knowing how this compares to the regular coffee flavor. Will it be twice as bold or more like 30% more bold? Would this sundae be better with the coffee chocolate chip version? If you try this mainstream ice cream, let us know what you think.

Verdict?  coffee!
Buy Again?  maybe!

  1. I thought these were all fine, but I'm a coffee aficionado. They pale in comparison to Ben and Jerry's, but the ice cream simply lacks the depth of flavor of something premium. I would not go out of my way to purchase them again.

  2. Really? It kinda of a lazy team up. They should had added donut pieces to the ice cream. Giving it texture. Coffee & Donuts would be a no-brainer. Than a lazy coffee team up.

  3. @Anne: how about when they are 2 for $4? :)

@Aleksandr: not positive what the "Really?" is for. I never said the team-up was clever, just that my sundae was. I apologize if that was unclear. The team-up is long overdue and could be greatly expanded, but at least this is a first step.

    1. I was hoping that they used mashup by using their iconic foods. Donut addition would be nice.
