Blue Bunny Cocoa Bunny Ice Cream

[New for late 2016] It's a Christmas miracle, my Walmart finally got in the new Blue Bunny flavors! I've been searching high and low for this flavor and peppermint party which will get reviewed in the next few days. Cherrific Cheesecake has also returned >> Ha, it just dawned on me that one says "limited edition", one says "seasonal", and one says "holiday edition".

Blue Bunny Cocoa Bunny Ice Cream
Chocolate ice cream with marshmallow flavored swirls
and chocolate flavored marshmallow filled bunnies

Swirl!

The swirl disappeared but the marshmallow filled B bunnies are coming out to play.

I take a few bites and it tastes like swiss miss. Overall, that's seems like a fun first impression. If I want to be super specific, it tastes more like water based swiss miss than milk based swiss miss though. It's possible that the marshmallow swirl is kind of messing with everything. It's added flavor may be kind of skewing how I interpret the base.

Another fun factor here is that you get a bunny or two in every bite it seems. They are enjoyable as always. Not a huge marshmallow flavor can be expected in such a tiny package, but you can always savor them (aka let them melt on your tastebuds) and extract a kind of cereal marshmallow flavor from them.

So do I like this one? Yeah, so far, but I don't think I love it. When it first hits you, it seems pretty cool, but the longer I sit here with the aftertaste, the more the fake marshmallow bugs me. Now, let's keep in mind that I complain about fake marshmallow a lot, so it may not bug you as much as it bugs me. I guess we'll see how tomorrow goes but I sense myself getting the urge to crush some graham crackers on this one.

On Second Scoop: This will sound rude, but if you can just kind of mindlessly eat this one, you'll be fine. The chocolate Bs are a nice distraction that goes well with a chocolate flavoring that you just don't find everyday. But be warned, put on your critical cap and you'll easily be distracted by this odd watery vibe to either the flavor or the texture or both. If I haven't scared you off, give it a try and let us know what you think.

Verdict?  pros and cons
Buy Again?  probably not

  1. I've got to try this one. Not only do I love the combination of chocolate and marshmallow but marshmallow filled chocolate bunnies sounds like Boyer's Mallo cups.

  2. I agree with your review. It was fine - but not something I would ever buy again. I really liked Peppermint Party, though (I am a peppermint fan). Not my favorite peppermint ice cream, but good.

  3. Just straight mixing Swiss Miss with vanilla ice cream is amazing =) If you wanted something like this just add some quality marshmallows ;-)
