Graeter's The Original Salted Caramel Ice Cream

Look, I freely admit that I do not understand the world's fascination with salted caramel. Sure, I adore caramel popcorn and buttery caramel sauce and such, but as an ice cream fan, salted caramel is just not something I seek out. Case in point, this free sample of Graeters has been sitting in the chest freezer since... May! Oh geez, we better check out....

Graeter's The Original Salted Caramel Ice Cream
(yes, that's actually the name)

Just going to remove the top layer since it's been sitting for awhile...

Whoa, first bite and wow, that's a great first impression.

Second Impression? "Nailed It".

What a great, robust, complex flavor. Yes, I expect nothing less of Graeters, but yeah, wow, nice. It hits all the rights notes, not too burnt, a bit sweet, a bit salty. I feel like I just had some great caramel. Ok, that sounds dumb, but what I mean is that rather than it reminding me of caramel, I feel like I actually had caramel.

This is why people adore Graeters. An excellent base with flavors that are dialed in just right. I know I'm not being specific here, it's just that, well, I don't think I need to be. What I am saying is that you compare other caramel flavors to this one.

On Second Scoop: the second time around is just as impressive as the first time. The texture and the flavor and the sweetness and the complexity and just everything is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.

*Yes, this is the ice cream in yesterday's sundae

Verdict?  Nailed It
Buy Again?  yes!

  1. Dubba I understand what you mean about the fascination with Sated Caramel UNTIL I tried TH's All Natural Salted Caramel. It's been love at first bite since then!
