Yuengling Vanilla Fudge Chunk with Pretzels Ice Cream

....and I just deleted the post I had written... really? 'cause the last two weeks haven't been busy enough, I have to delete all my thoughts from a few hours ago? Well, that's what I get for taking notes in notepad without saving. Oh well, we all do it, so let's try this again: I went off looking for the new cookie cores at lunch but instead I came back with some Yuengling's ice cream that was on sale.

Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream, Fudge Swirl, Chocolate Chips and Chocolate Covered Pretzels

That's a fine opening shot (you know where my spoon is headed!)

(back to indoor lighting with my burnt out, purple hazed htc one camera)

I take my first few bites and I like it. Where the Friendly's pretzel flavor felt unbalanced, the fudge swirl and chocolate chips against the vanilla backdrop just seem to work better with the pretzels here. Yes, I know it's a more traditional way to do things, but I'd rather have classic done right than something new that's incomplete.

Look closely, the pretzels look the same, don't they? Even their chocolate shell breaks off the same way.... which means they too suffer from the staleness that plagued Friendlys. The good news is that the thin chocolate chips and plentiful and crisp, distracting me from the lackluster pretzel bits.

So, overall, a fine snack. The fudge swirl feels pretty standard for mainstream ice cream. The vanilla is pretty standard as well. The overall combo is fun, I just wish the pretzels were still crunchy. I mean, come on, if Target can do it, anyone can.

On Second Scoop: The second scooping went a little long than expected.... never sit in front of ice cream with a headache, that's all I'm going to say. Overall, this is a fine product. It could have been awesome with a ton of fresh pretzels, but as is, I stick by my theory that the plentiful amount of crunchy chips distracts you from that disappointment. Definitely feel free to grab this one, hopefully those closer to Pennsylvania will get better pretzels than I did.

Verdict?  pretty good despite the pretzels
Buy Again?  maybe
