Dairy Queen July 2011 Triple Chocoholic Blizzard

Oh yeah....

It's definitely hot enough to head over to DQ

My target? The July 2011 DQ Blizzard of the Month
The "NEW" Dairy Queen Triple Chocoholic Blizzard

Just don't head to http://blizzardfanclub.com/ because their webmaster is on vacation apparently

It should be truffles, choco chunks and dark, decadent cocoa fudge
blended into creamy vanilla softserve

Here's the real thing, though mine was mine was made with just chocolate softserve,
 mixed with choco chunks and...

wait, are these brownies or truffle bits?
They sure taste like brownies.
I think there is a distinct possibility that I've been had! (though probably just similar)

So, even though they gave me chocolate softserve instead of cocoa and vanilla softserve... and even though I might have been eating brownies and not truffles... I still liked this flavor. There is an over abundance of crunchy choco bits that make this one a lot of fun. Mmmmm, it's as if I called this before.... oh wait, I did! In my midnight truffle review I mentioned that crunchy bits would have made it much better and now here we are with a much better treat. I think DQ needs to hire me.

Oh, one more thing. Fellow ice cream fan Danielle wrote in to say that her DQ actually suggested using the chocolate/vanilla swirl as the base of her blizzard. That's right, you don't have to pick vanilla or chocolate, you can go with a swirl! How did I miss this?

  1. You may be wise, ol' Dubba, but they get the advice for free through when you post it. So, I wouldn't hold my breath for a job.

Did you have to ask to switch to chocolate soft-serve? That made a lot more sense to me when I read their description a few days ago.

  2. nope. I asked for my order, I got a brief puzzled look, he asked a quick question of someone else and then dumped in the chocolate softserve.

  3. After stopping through there today, the following occurred to me. I think pretty much all of their blizzards are listed with a vanilla base. Am I wrong?

  4. most of them yes, with chocolate always being an option. I tend to go with how it's listed on my first run.

whoa! how would a mint blizzard taste with chocolate base? hmmmm

  5. I went and bought another blizzard this time with just the chocolate soft serve and it was just as amazing as the choc/vanilla swirl. This is the first time I've bought 2 blizzard's of the month in one month - that's saying something!

  6. Actually all DQ Blizzards are made with Vanilla soft serve. The one in your picture there is also clearly made with vanilla. You'd know if it was chocolate. It would be MUCH darker. Most Dairy Queens no longer even have chocolate DQ as an option. The Triple Chocoholic Blizzard is also made with brownie batter, not cocoa fudge. Brownie batter is only a seasonal ingredient though.

    1. what kind of wonky DQ doesn't have chocolate soft serve?

I know I didn't save the original picture, so see here:
