Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bars

[New for 2026] Time to try the fourth of five new 2026 ice cream bars from Ben & Jerry's, though, some of us very vaguely remember them making a cookie dough bar at the beginning of this millenia. Anyway, we know this should be tasty, but let's dive into a box of....

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream Bars

[New for 2026] I almost forgot that I had more new ice cream bars to try, but then the other day I was dying for a chocolate fix, so I bought the pint and bar version of....

Ben & Jerry's Caramel Blondie Ice Cream Bars

[New for Early 2026] I don't usually get my ice cream from Market Basket because their stuff is usually freezerburned (like the new Entenmann's flavor from Turkey Hill). That said, when I walked by these, I wasn't about to not bring them home.

Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Bar

[New for Early 2026] We headed out to Hannaford last night and what do we find but a fun little mix of new Ben & Jerry's (and Little Debbie) stuff. I am currently starved, so let's unwrap a.....

Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Pint Slice

[New for 2019, discontinued] Do you miss Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie flavor? It was a scoop shop flavor in 2013 and then in limited batch pints in 2014, but then it left us sadly. Well, it's time for a comeback in the form of a pint slice (there is also the new amaze-mint pint slice). I can't imagine it's bad, I really just wonder how good it will be.

Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Pint Slices

[New for 2018, Discontinued] As much as I love ice cream, I do admit that there are times where I am more interested in cataloging something instead of eating it. Take these pint slices for example. I never doubted that they would be tasty so I just never had an overwhelming urge to try them (especially since I bought them right before reducing my chocolate intake by 94%). I guess what I am trying to say is... do you ever buy something just for the sake of checking it off the list?

Ben & Jerry's Tonight Dough Pint Slice

[New for 2018, Discontinued] There are three new pint slices this year and one in particular has my attention because it means an excuse to give the Tonight Dough another shot. Now the fact that there are three new pint slices this year might imply that these new treats did pretty well last year. I say might because B&J's isn't know for cycling in a product for just one year. It's more like the lineup would grow, then stagnate, and then fade away. Marketing lesson aside, let's dig in to....

Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream Pint Slices

[New for 2017, Discontinued] Ok, one last pint slice to cover. We've got Fudge Brownie and PB Cup battling for the number one spot, the dull Cookie Dough bringing up the rear, and in the middle we've got...

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Pint Slices

[By Nick, New for early 2017, discontinued]
After numerous failed attempts to find something new to review besides these pint slices, I guess I'm stuck with them. Let's take at my 2nd crack into this line up.

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pint Slice

[By Nick, New for early 2017, Discontinued] Looks like Ben & Jerry's is trying to bring something new to the novelty game but the concept doesn't excite me all that much. It's not revolutionary and at least their old novelties had some creativity to them. However, people who can't control themselves around a pint now have a portioned control version of B&J's that doesn't come in a ridiculously small cup. Dubba has already covered the Peanut Butter Cup one and is planning on reviewing the Americone Dream version as well. That leaves me with Chocolate Fudge Brownie and...

Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Peanut Butter Cup Pint Slices

[New for early 2017, discontinued] Have you heard about the new Ben & Jerry's Pint Slices yet? For at least a few years now, Ben & Jerry's has talked about slicing an ice cream pint horizontally and then sticking those slices between cookies for some fun ice cream sandwich action, but what if they made things a bit easier for us? I present to you...

Ben & Jerry's Brrr-ito Review

[By Nick, new for April 2015, Returned in 2016, replaced by the CHILL-aco in 2017
--- The CHILL-aco will be a double waffle wrap and shaped like a taco. There will be a layer of sauce between the waffles]

Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia Ice Cream Bar Review

[By Nick] So I feel like I was a little hard on Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia in my Edy’s Maxx review. Maybe I just needed to judge their flavor in another form, say an ice cream bar version? Well once again a trip to the gas station left me with a chance to try out something I never had before. I picked up Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia Bar and I was on my way.

Described as “Cherry Ice Cream with Sweet Dark Cherries & a Dark Chocolatey Coating”, B&J’s deviates from their normal formula by removing the chocolate flake component from their hard ice cream in favor of the dark chocolate shell. I never had a real problem with the chocolate flakes so it doesn’t really make much of a difference to me.

Ben & Jerry's Flipped Out (Again!)

Update: These have been quietly retired. I guess my criticism wasn't too harsh after all.

Some two and a half months ago, I finally brought home those nifty looking little sundae cups from Ben & Jerry's. In particular, I brought home the Peanut Butter Chocolate Flipped Out!. It did not go well at all. I was fairly convinced that somehow the chocolate coating had gone bad and wound up tossing it in the trash. Did I overreact? maybe, but remember, sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good ...ok, that was just silly. Let's move on.

Ben & Jerry's did send a replacement coupon, and so here I am, finally trying it again. The bad news is that I'm trying this at work, so I'm going to have to eat this upside down since I don't have a plate to put it on. The good news is that this may be the trick to eating this since now I am greeted first by quality Ben & Jerry's ice cream rather than the chocolate coating.

Is the coating as bad as I remember? No. Call me prepared or call me crazy, but I don't have the urge to spit it out this time. HOWEVER, I still don't like it. I don't know what kind of sauce they are using, but I do not like it, plain and simple. It's unpleasant. It's not fowl and repulsive, but I don't like it. I wish I could be more descriptive. Is it missing an ingredient maybe? Are they trying to spice things up with a nice contrast? It bugs me when I can't quantify something like this, even after 20 months of blogging. It's the kind of thing were you taste it and go "do I just not have the palate to appreciate quality product?"

For me, flipped out brings nothing to the table. As a big B&J's fan, part of me feels obligated to try all three flavors, but why should I? I'd rather spend $3 on a pint I'll love rather than $3 on two little cups with some ill conceived sauce and extra brownie bits. Yes, I finished the treat this time, and no, my opinion doesn't cover everyone, but if you ask me, I'm going to tell you to save your money and go buy a regular pint.

Blogging Backfire

Update: These have been quietly retired. I guess my criticism wasn't too harsh after all.

We just went to try Ben & Jerry's flipped out! peanut butter chocolate treats. Something is seriously off with the fudge on these, so I need to go write to B&J and see what's up. There's no way the taste of that fudge is normal....
Update: Ok, someone just commented how that taste is normal (and disgusting). That can't be right ...can it? I just searched the internet but unfortunately most people are commenting on how good it looks, not how good it tastes. I'll let you know what Ben & Jerry's says.

2nd Update: Tuesday afternoon and still no email from B&Js, hmmmm, they must be sending a letter like many others companies have done in the past. You know, my daughter was unamused at me taking her ice cream from her that day, but I made it up to her with some Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream with whip cream, Reese's pieces, and a little nesquik on top.

Final Update: 2 weeks later and I have received my "replacement" coupon for another pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I know, I didn't buy a pint, but those are the coupons they have, so that's what I got. I guess I expected a little more info on the fudge sauce, so I feel a little jipped at the moment.
