Talenti Italian Tiramisu Gelato Layers

[For 2025 only?] Because I don't really do coffee ice cream (or gelato), I was in no rush to try this one, but it was on sale for $3.99 sometime over the summer, so I grabbed a faux pint of....

Talenti Italian Tiramisu Bakery Collection Gelato Layers
mascarpone gelato, soft vanilla cookie pieces, espresso chocolate fudge sauce, cold brew sorbetto and more soft vanilla cookie pieces

I feel like I tend to enjoy these layered flavors more than many of you, but at the same time, they are a flawed creation. Let's see if this is the best or worst of the new bakery collection line up.

Bit of ice crystals on the top if you can see them... I take a bite, and yeah, that's a little crunchy. It was in the basement freezer too (the one that doesn't auto defrost and ruin ice cream).

I'm guessing you can see those ice crystals. Whoops!
(sorry for the greyish photos, blame winter lighting!)

Mmmmm, espresso fudge. Always fun.

I think this reminds me of the coffee cookie crumble gelato layers flavor that I tried back in 2020 (review here).

The freezer burn of the top layer (despite the container having a seal), is probably the most distracting part. Maybe I'll scoop off the top and mix this with some vanilla ice cream tomorrow.

I know I dont properly review coffee flavors, but overall, I would say this is a good example of one. Plenty of complexity, we've got texture from the cookies in the mix, and there's definitely a lingering coffee kick in the aftertaste.

Wait, I sat on the aftertaste for a few minutes. I would say that it could use a bit more chocolate flavor or sweetness maybe. It's easy enough for me to keep going, but with the linger of that bitter coffee taste, it makes me want a little more balance.

Something to keep in mind -- I was at Hannaford a week or so ago, and this flavor was on "close out" along with a few Haagen-Dazs flavors (including two of the sorbets). Did this one not go over well?

On Second Scoop: To be clear, there are bites of this treat that I do truly enjoy. It's not amazing, but it's different and sometimes you need different. That said....

...just look at the consistency of these layers! This is basically a slice break right through the middle of the container. Come on Talenti, we deserve better than this!

Finally thought: plenty of places have a Coffee Cookies & Cream ice cream, but have you ever seen a Tiramisu Cookies & Cream flavor? It wouldnt be that hard to tweak the recipe and make something unique [I do remember that there were tiramisu Oreos].

Verdict?  it has it's moments
Buy Again?  probably not (because coffee)
