[New for Mid 2023] As I mentioned in my last post, I've had a full freezer for months and yet I've done a not so great job of keep up with things. Here is another example of something I bought mid summer, finally opened in mid September and am now posting in November. In other words, you probably won't find this one anymore, but maybe you can try it next you if this review inspires you to do so. Let's take a long delayed look at....
Friendly's Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream

The good news is that there is plenty of graham crunch of everywhere. The bad news is that I don't get a cheesecake vibe, let alone a blueberry cheesecake vibe. It's just kind of.... meh.
I didn't expect to love this one, and again, plenty of bits everywhere, but it's not like they are conveying a ton of graham flavor here. Sorry, but this one is disappointing.
On Second Scoop: Such an un-cheesy cheesecake ice cream. It's busy, but I can't help but assume that people who buy this would be somewhat sad that it's not very cheesy. It's not bad-bad, but it's also not what I expected. That said, my wife said that she enjoyed it, so it might revisit my freezer next summer if it comes back.
Verdict? not cheesy enough

I tried this when it first came out. I was super disappointed bc I tasted zero cheesecake flavor whatsoever. I tend to love Friendly's limited edition flavors so I was surprised how badly they missed the mark. I Def won't repurchase it.

ReplyDeleteSame here. OTOH, if you consider it a crunch vanilla-and-blueberry swirl ice-cream, it's quite nice.
ReplyDeleteI did NOT like this at ALL. There were way too many hard graham bits in it & it wouldn't been better with a nice graham swirl instead. There was barely any blueberry or cheesecake flavor. Very disappointing as there are store brands who make DELICIOUS versions of this. I expected it to be DELICIOUS but sadly I threw away 90% of container. I saw it available again this Summer & hope they improved it but it looks to be the SAME. I WISH THEY WOULD BRING BACK THE PUMPKIN FLAVOR they used to have every year for a few months until about 4 years ago. Same goes for Vanilla Pineapple-those 2 flavors need to be bright back permanently. My current favorite the last 10 years or so is Coconut but not many stores carry it. I WISH more serious carried it again & more fruit flavors would come out such as Peach & Guava & Pineapple & Passionfruit & Blueberry Vanilla Graham & Banana Strawberry & Guanabana & even an apple flavor with a cinnamon swirl & caramel sounds nice. We LOVE fruity ice creams & currently Coconut is the only one they have THAT IS WONDERFUL as I feel their strawberry needs improvement to be creamier & Cherry Vanilla is good but the cherries inside could be better too.
