Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor at Walmart

[New for Mid 2023] Have you seen the Netflix Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor "Pints" pop up at Walmart or in your social media feed yet? I'm guessing you have, but if not, here they are! The question is, do you know me well enough to know which flavor I tried first?

Stranger Things Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream
chocolate pudding  -  u.s.s. butterscotch  -  triple decker extravaganza
the void  -  mint flare  -  pineapple upside down
(There is also a cinnamon bun bytes flavor apparently)

Ha, it just dawned on me that it's "Mint Flare" and not "Mint Flair". Ha, well played person who designed these. I kind of wish I had flipped the two on the right, but no matter. Let's do a rundown.

So I picked up The Void first, but then I realized the black coloring from the black vanilla ice cream was all over the container. I decided I didnt want to eat that much activated charcoal powder.

Next temptation was Mint Flare because I am a sucker for confetti, but I decided I wasn't in a mint mood.

Pineapple Upside Down? Yeah, that would be my last choice.

Triple Decker Extravaganza is "vanilla & butter ice cream with a maple ribbon, waffle & chocolate peanut butter candy". Yeah, that sounds amazing, but peanut butter, so it'll have to wait.

Chocolate Pudding could be fun with it's vanilla wafers mixed in to chocolate ice cream and fudge swirl, but there is something else I want to try first.

Not a full pint. Strike One.

Yeah, the name of U.S.S. Butterscotch has me thinking about "Scotchy Scotch Scotch". Winner.

Apparently there is a Cinnamon Bun Bytes flavor. I guess I know which one I want to try next!

It could look worse, but I'm definitely concerned. Strike Two.
(yes, I would feel better if it was butterscotch colored)

As boring as it looks. Strike Three!

I have a question. Is this from the same people who made the Snoop Dogg ice cream? Nope, I just checked. However, these first several bites are unimpressive and have a similar feel as those Dr. Bombay pints. In other words, both brands kind of suck.

Am I being too harsh? Well, let's look at the ingredients:
 #1 Water
 #2 Cream
 #3 Sucrose
 #4 Condensed Skim Milk

Sounds like a faux pint full of not really ice cream to me.

Also, why are there chocolate chips in here? It's the only thing you can really taste.

So yeah, this ice cream sucks. It's not "spit it out" terrible, but it's just dumb, especially at $5 a container. I'm feeling kind of ripped off right now (incase you couldn't tell).

On Second Scoop: when I'm bored, maybe I'll try it again.

Verdict?  tasteless junk
Buy Again? nope

MFG Note: The plant number on the bottom belongs to Wisconsin's Schoep's Ice Cream which I've had way back in 2009. It wasn't terrible, nor was it fantastic. Review is here. Ha, just noticed that this pint has a 2 year shelf life (I feel like 12-18 months is much more typical).

Allergy Note: Manufactured on Shared Equipment.

  1. Acknowledging we are on the honor system, one internet point to me as I called Butterscotch first. Shouldn't be too surprising though as I was a Nosh show fan and also wrote for TIB 😁

Thank you for taking one for the team Dubba. Sounds like these flavors are going for the Upside Down of Ben & Jerry's.

  3. WOW!! I did a search looking at a massive amount of different ice cream brands and even so called Frozen Dairy Desserts and NONE listed water as the first ingredient.

IMO this product does not deserve the right to even be called ice cream.

  4. Arctic Zero is the only thing that comes to mind, and that's obviously not real ice cream.

  5. When I was enticed by seeing these myself, I picked up a pint to check it out, felt its heft, and put it right back down. Sad to hear my skepticism was on point. :/

  6. So, I got the cinnamon bun at Walmart earlier. Apparently only having 500 calories in a "pint" wasn't a big enough warning sign. Or the top and label basically falling off as I went to open it. Nope, I forged ahead. Cuz after all, how can you REALLY make cinnamon bad, even at half the normal calories? Personally, I don't know. However, go ahead and ask the maker of this, and they'll sure as hell tell you.
    Boring
    Bland
Cinnamon bun pieces? Yeah ok, if the cinnamon bun was made out of cinnamon-flavored playdoh.
    Gross, save yourself $5

  7. What is the phone number to scoops ahoy ice cream company? They owe me compensation for the inconvenience I endured when eating this ice cream and I have yet received or heard anything.

  8. I tried the butterscotch and was underwhelmed. I didn't read the ingredient list before trying it; won't make that mistake again. Tasted very watery (duh) with crystals. It tasted more like cheap imitation vanilla than butterscotch. It had one very small caramel ribbon and three tiny bits of chocolate. I won't buy this again or any of the other flavors.

  9. The Pineapple Upside Down Cake was seriously one of the worst ice creams I’ve ever ate! It tasted sickly, fake sweet and bland at the same time.
