Friendly's S'mores Big Chipper

[New for 2020] Oh Deans, I know what you are up to. Giving us a national snack in regional packaging. Very sneaky, but I get that's how things work. So, whether you see these as Mayfield, Dean's, or Friendly's, if you are like me, you won't be able to walk past....

Friendly's S'mores Big Chipper Sandwich

Funny, the packaging talks about a fudge swirl, it actually looks like a swirl of chocolate ice cream (I know this picture doesn't show it very well, but if you look super closely at it, you might notice that the ice cream on the right side is brown, not white).

What strikes me most? The oh so airy graham flavored cookies. It's like someone took a graham cracker and replaced the crunch with more air. There is minimal resistance when biting in to these cookies. Let's just say that I worry just a smidge that I might accidentally breath them in rather than swallowing them, that's how incredibly light they are. It's a huge distraction really.

The whole treat is very light. Each sandwich clocks in at 93 grams which is on par for a serving of light ice cream, and honestly, it feels that way. It's just not a satisfying treat. I want a nice ice cream filling that's melting against a solid cookie. Instead I have a minimally flavored filling set against some graham flavored styrofoam. No, styrofoam would be tougher than this....

So not really an impressive first serving. Not terrible, but pretty lackluster on the first serving.

On Second Scoop: I went back with lowered expectations and a hungrier belly and still these failed my city. Oh sorry. Anyway, yeah, still disappointing. For a bite or two, there is a glimmer or hope, and then massive annoyance kicks in and I want to tell the world to avoid these. Ok, maybe not the whole world, but at least you nice people who read this blog.
