Talenti Banana Caramel Crunch Gelato Layers

[New for 2020 - Retired] Despite my love of walking down the freezer aisle several times a week, I have been staying at home as directed and only venturing out on a rare occasion to restock our fridge and cabinets. Thankfully, I got an email from Unilever's PR firm with an offer to try free new stuff from several of the companies they own. I had trouble choosing what to post first, but this one got the most attention on the gram, so let's dig in to...

It's never about the opening shot with these pints...

Though the bottom is always fun to look at!

Now this is the money shot! (I think I like that the caramel is escaping)

If that shot doesn't make you hungry, nothing will! Hehehe, ok, it's probably not that great a picture, but it does amuse me. If only the flavor amused me as much. The flavor is definitely more that of banana candy than banana bread. That means it's not really my cup of tea.

The most surprising part? The banana seems to have infused in to the caramel sauce. If you could reduce a super ripe banana down in to a sauce, I feel like it would taste much like this sauce does. Unfortunately, again I am not a fan of this flavoring either.

My favorite part? The fresh and crunchy pie crust pieces.

Ha, I covered the banana, the caramel, and the crunch of this banana caramel crunch treat. That too amuses me (but maybe it's the cabin fever kicking in).

I was never really a fan of their original banana chocolate swirl gelato, so it makes sense that I don't love this either. That said, for those that like the original or for those that love a potent banana flavor, I hope you enjoy this one. May your pie crust pieces be crunchy!

On Second Scoop: later

Verdict?  too potent for me
Buy Again?  nope

  1. I, too, wasn't a fan of the previous banana swirl gelato, does this base taste any different from it considering they labelled it as 'banana pudding' ? I was hoping for a banana cream pie vibe or something because the previous banana one tasted kind of healthy-ish/not creamy to me...

  2. was too busy thinking it tasted like artificial banana candy. in theory pie crust should make it taste like more like banana cream pie... maybe I should add whipped cream next time.

  3. They could had done like a banana pudding flavor without the caramel.

  4. All the layered flavors have some kind of sauce flavor in the mix. I would have liked it more if it hadnt absorbed so much banana flavor
