7-Eleven Cookie Butter Ice Cream

[New for late 2018] Alright, we've got time left to sneak in one more review before 2018 ends. Sure, technically there are new Blue Bunny load'd sundaes and also new Friendly's cake singles to find, but this is the best I can manage. It's a pretty tasty way to end the year so I'm not really complaining. Let's dive in to a fresh pint of....

7-Select GO! Yum Cookie Butter Ice Cream
brown sugar cookie flavored ice cream with cinnamon graham swirls,
chocolatey flakes, and speculoos cookie pieces

I actually struck out while trying to find this one last week, but I hit up another 7-Eleven at lunch today and sure enough they had it. Ok, technically I almost overlooked it because it was kind of hiding between freezer doors, but I did a triple take and found it.

I tend to go back to the office before digging in. That was not the case today. I do adore graham swirls so it was hard not to dive in when I saw it just beckoning me to scoop it up.

Did I enjoy my first spoonful? Yup! Did I keep going? You know it. It's one of those pints where you go "awww, do I have to stop eating it?". I could easily keep going with a combo like this.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room. In general, brown sugar, graham, and speculoos are all tasty things. That said, does this taste like a straight cookie butter flavor? I would argue no. I'm still enjoying it, but it's not the same as eating a straight scoop of Biscoff spread. I will say this, the aftertaste is definitely similar to the aftertaste of eating speculoos cookies.

Am I going to knock them for this? A bit, but not a ton. This is still a fun flavor. I don't adore the texture mind you, it was a little too fake. I'd love to see it a little bit more grit here, but it's good enough. Would I like to see a bit more spices in the mix? Sure, that's an option too. There's plenty of ways to tweak this, but I don't want that to get in the way of realizing this one is still good. Just change the name if that's the biggest hangup here.

Oh, the chips, I don't know what's up with them, and I do think they take you yet another step away from the cookie butter vibe, but it does seem like someone took the time to pick a particular chocolate type to go in to these pints (aka I still like them). Unfortunately I've lost my way with describing different chocolates. The chips linger in a way that makes sense. [foot note: you can buy chocolate covered/dipped speculoos though I've only tried them once].

So, are you going to go find this one?

On Second Scoop: Devoured... should probably buy more.

Verdict?  tasty!
Buy Again?  yup!

  1. I'm so jealous! Neither of the 7-11s near me have this yet. Don't they want my money?!

  2. Loved this. I'd originally gone in looking to get the old-time Toasted S'mores, but saw this and went for a change in plan... and change is good.

  4. I just got it and while I haven't tried it yet, I wish they'd stop putting chocolate in everything. Just like the Ben and Jerrys flavor (oatmeal cookie, I think it was), chocolate isn't part of the flavor the ice cream is going for. I think it's just a cop out to say they have mixins.

  5. I've been buying this for awhile, but starting in May I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I hope it hasn't been discontinued.
