Haagen-Dazs Honey Milk Chocolate Graham Gelato Bar

[for 2015 only] Now there is a certain Haagen-Dazs treat that I've been pining over ever since Junk Food Guy found it all the way back in April! I kept searching and searching but just couldnt find it. Eventually I found it at a remote store and then another that was just a few minutes from work. Well, I'm starved, it's a short week, and for a sale price of $3.99 I just picked up...

Haagen-Dazs Honey Milk Chocolate Graham Gelato Bar
honey gelato with honey swirl,
dipped in milk chocolate and crunchy graham cracker pieces

Stop taunting me and get in my belly!

I take my first bite and am blown away at how powerful the graham is, but then I take another bite. Whoa, the honey is totally amplifying the graham flavor on the back end. Problem is, I've never been a big fan of honey flavors.

The shell is wonderful. I mean, just look at it, it's epic. It's perfectly crunching and I could eat something like this all day long. Overall the bar is top notch quality just like all of their other bars. But the honey, oh the honey.

I quickly polish off the bar and am left.... iunno, no, i do know, I'm disappointed. I've been wanting to try these for so long, and have been so bent on the graham aspect, that I was unprepared for the honey assault. Hopefully things will go better with tempered expectations.

On Second Scoop: Ok, the second bar is definitely less shocking than the first. Please understand that since this is Haagen-Dazs, it's still a quality product. Calling it a "honey assault" was probably going a bit too far, but what I want to stress is that when a good honey is in a product, you really notice it right? Well, you can't help but notice it here. It's a very distinct note in the flavor profile and for me personally, that's just not my thing. The shell is still a ton of fun to eat even if I'm not blown away with graham flavor (or distracted from it). Feel free to grab a box and split it with a friend or two to see how it stacks up against the other H-D bars.

Verdict?  not worth the weight wait
Buy Again?  nah

  1. I think these are fabulous - I really liked the honey in them.

  2. Enough with the "iunno." It's an off-putting term that does nothing for your reviews. I suppose you might be trying to come off as cutesy, but in fact you are coming off as someone that is trying too hard.

Maybe it could be justified if you didn't have as many spelling and grammatical errors in your reviews, but until that day comes then your writing will continue to make me cringe.

  3. if it makes you cringe, why did you read so many other reviews and comment on them as well? why not just move on? you mock several people for being stupid, but how is your trolling any better? "gee, this guy and his readers suck, think I'll sit here and complain rather than moving on with my life".

plus, after commenting on so my reviews, you think you would realize that I type like I talk, I mean "iunno" as an expression of my brain trying to process why a company would do this or that.

  4. I have a coupon for two free pints of HD. Any recommendations? I really hated the chocolate chocolate chip gelato (it tasted like someone melted and then refroze a really cheap Fudgsicle) despite loving chocolate ice cream. How is the cookie dough? The mint chocolate chip? The regular chocolate chip?

  5. @Deb: are the coupons good for any HD product? Any of their regular line up is a pretty much a guaranteed win in my book, I'm not sure I've had anything bad from it. It's only when they experiment that you arent guaranteed a winner (a winner for some but not necessarily for all). Their cookie dough is excellent, the caramel cone for example is crazy good, also a huge fan of their rocky road.
