Breyers Apple Cinnamon Crumble
A Frozen Dairy Dessert

Ok, you all know I'm distrustful of Breyers and their so called "more desirable" frozen dairy desserts, but several our fellow ice cream buddies have said this one is good, so here goes.

Breyers Apple Cinnamon Crumble Frozen Dairy Dessert
Apple flavor with an apple cinnamon swirl and pie crust pieces

Looks straight forward enough....

My first scooping was buried in a sundae on top of some apple n spice donuts and under some very taste Spoonable salty caramel sauce. The thing I noticed most were some nice, dry crumble bits. I say dry, but in a good way. It's crisp and adds a nice contrast to the mild flavored base.

My second scooping is just a bowl, all by itself. Despite several misfires by Breyers this year, this one is working for me. That's right, you guys called it. The flavor is mild and doesn't really strike me as overly artificial. There is cinnamon at play but that too is mild. The soft texture isn't great, but with the crust here and there, it's easier to overlook. Third scooping also went well. The fourth scooping went into this ice cream sandwich. I can't help it, I like this flavor.

As we head in to the January diet season, a low cal, low fat flavor like this is kind of what you need. Apple flavors are refreshing and crisp, while not necessarily inspiring the kind of mass consumption you might find with a cookie dough or chocolate brownie flavor. You don't feel weighed down afterwards, and that's what some of us need right now.

Verdict?  better than expected
Buy Again?  sure

Flavors like this make me sad. We used to get these flavors in my area in NJ, and then a few years ago that all changed and we only seem to get the basic Breyers flavors. I guess I'll just need to develop my own apple flavor ;)

I liked this one too! However, I think the Market Pantry version at Target was just a bit better. Look out for it when it comes around again. Their pumpkin pie light was also delicious.
