[New for 2025] I finally found these right before I got covid, but after realizing my taste buds weren't at 100%, I had to hold off on trying these. I don't expect anything amazing, but a dulling of strawberry flavor might be enough to make me not like these. Well, I'm mostly better now (I think), so let's try....
Rice Krispies Treats Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwiches

you all know that I'm a sucker for sprinkles!
One, the sprinkles add needed texture to combat the grease factor.
Two, strawberry is a counterpoint to the RK Treats. I feel like the vanilla ice cream just made the grease factor worse, but the strawberry is different enough to be a distracting upgrade from the odd vanilla.
I don't think there was much strawberry flavor until I hit the swirl, but I didn't hit the swirl until the last two bites. I would definitely appreciate more of that swirl in the mix from the get go.
I think I've already kind of soured on the idea of these treats. For context, the last box of homestyle rice krispy treats that I bought were much greasier than all of the earlier boxes I bought. That slime factor is enough to kind of sour me on manufactured RKTs right now because I have to deal with it here too. I hope that homestyle box was a one off, but I will be sad if they ruined the homestyle version.
On Second Scoop: Well, it's a few weeks later now, and I still don't love these. I strawberry continues to be mild and the treat wafers are still way too greasy. I think if you had a hankerin' for one of these, you'd probably enjoy it, but it you suspect that you won't like them, don't waste your time.
Final ranking: not sure if cocoa or strawberry is better, but vanilla is definitely the worst

It’s frustrating that several of this years releases such as the cereal pints, pop tart sandwiches and this have so much potential, but are executed poorly.
