Noosa Out of this Swirl Lemon Bar

[New for Early 2023] So Noosa disappearing from a bunch of local grocery store chains had me pretty sure that it was gonna be one and done from them. Then a reader saw 3 new flavors and soon enough I did too. I left the new minty one on the shelf and the cookies & cream flavor is still downstairs, which means we are going to check out the third new flavor.

I think you can see the icing swirls in this shot

The good news is that I liked this one from the first scoop. It's got a nice key lime pie vibe to it. I know it's not the exact same thing, but we don't get a whole lot of flavors that taste like this anymore (and most of the time, they are just limited edition flavors). The texture is nice too.

That said, I really really really hate when companies put peanut oil in a product and don't make specific note of it. I know they don't have to, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't. The thing is, I know to double check fudge swirls because if they are moose tracks inspired, they'll have peanut oil, but my brain didn't think to check a lemon flavor for peanut oil. Yes, I have seen not chocolate flavors with peanut oil, but it happens so infrequently, that I do get fooled some times. To clarify, I am probably more mad at myself for not being careful than I am at them for not declaring it, but I still think they should declare it.... apparently the FDA says they don't have to declare it as long as it's highly refined peanut oil. Sorry, still makes me nervous. I think of how the FDA doesn't require lupini beans to be labeled as an allergen but in Europe they are. I'll stop now.

So, will you be on the hunt for the new flavors? I found mine at Stop & Shop (Giant), but I'm not sure who else will have them. I'll update this post if I find them anywhere else.

On Second Scoop: Yeah, this one is really good, both texture and flavor. Love the lemon meringue pie vibe it throws off (key lime, lemon, very similar). I would definitely check this one out if you are interested.

Verdict?  tasty but not a fan of peanut oil
Buy Again?  - nope -

  1. Nice to see another instance of this flavor! I've been waiting for HEB to actually get their new lemon bar flavor in stock near me. (The creme brulee just showed so perhaps soon.) Haven't seen any new noosas yet but now I'll keep a closer eye out. Thanks for the review and for sticking with the blog!
