So, what are you eating right now?

I still haven't made it out to Whole Foods (or Roche Bros), and my last random trip to Wegman's was pretty boring. So, I've just been buying what's on sale. I had been on a streak of just mixing Turkey Hill's all natural vanilla with whatever was laying around (usually cookies), but the last few weeks it's been about chowing down on the Ben & Jerry's and Haagen-Dazs stashes.

I made these this morning using some cheap strawberry cookies and some Haagen-Dazs strawberry ice cream. The ice cream was definitely better than the cookies. I have a smidge of Beach Day left and I also threw that on a bit of cookies and that combo actually worked better that this combo. Oh yeah, the pink crumbs are smashed Ghostbusters cereal (I'm pretty sure I liked the original Ghostbusters cereal so I had to try the new one).

So, what are you eating right now? It can be a goto favorite or something new or something you think doesn't get the attention it deserves. And you aren't limited to just one answer either.

Have a good week everyone!

  1. If I had answered this before Memorial Day, my answer would have been homemade chocolate chocolate chip with Breyer's chocolate and then pieces of dark chococolate that I add in, Breyer's mint chocolate chip, or breyers natural vanilla with those chocolat (pieces added (yes, at the moment, Breyers is my favorite).

However, and I have no idea why this happened...I had knee surgery in early June and literally that night, I stopped liking chocolate ice cream (and most other chocolate!). Now I almost always want just vanilla and not even too much (I used to love huge portions of it...)

    Very odd.

  4. I haven't seen this brand reviewed, but I have been loving Tillemook. Our local Food Lion carries the brand. Their ice cream sandwiches are really good: mint chocolate chip, vanilla, chocolate mudslide and strawberry. The cookies that are used are almost like a pizzelle dipped in chocolate. They are unique and good. Their ice cream is also good. They have a chocolate chip AND a malted chocolate chip. You have to try both to see how they are different. I also really liked the new wildberry cheesecake ice cream from Trader Joes. There is also a local froyo spot called Surfin' Spoon. They make ice cream sandwiches with some unique combinations like lavender ice cream. They are located in Nags Head, North Carolina. However, they have become so popular that their ice cream sammies are found in Whole Foods in Virginia. They are a great mom and pop place that gives back to autism. If you want to up your cookie ice cream sandwich game, hit up a Crumbl cookie. Take two of their cookies and sandwich ice cream in between. I think you would have an ice cream cake sandwich almost since their cookies are huge!

@Anne: I reviewed a few when they started stocking at Stop & Shop
    https://www.onsecondscoop.com/search/label/tillamook
this year they've invaded several other stores too, so at some point there should be more reviews

  7. I've been eating my usual great value mint chip ice cream. Money's been tight, but I can still get my mint fix!

I love that the choco chips are nice and thick, none of those flimsy flakes or tiny little forgettable dots that are common in other pints. There's a decent amount of them too.

  8. I know they are membership only but if you are a member of either BJs or Costco, I'd like your thoughts on the following...BJs has wellesley farms . my suspicion is that it is produced by Breyers because the calories and ingredients are the same and it is located right next to the breyers in the freezer in warehouse stores. Costco kirkland super premium vanilla used to be and maybe still is made by Humboldt. It is so creamy. I was eating it and commented to those with me that it tasted like frozen custard and they said frozen custard has eggs...we checked and sure enough...egg yolks!

  9. If you post the plant codes from the container, I could probably tell you where they are from - I gave up on BJ's after not needing to buy large quantities of diapers any more :)

    1. Pardon my ignorance, but where would I find this code?

  10. should be with the best buy date, usually two digits, a dash, and then a few more digits.
