The strawberry gelato texture leaves a bit to be desired. It tastes more like sherbet or a fruit & cream bar. The strawberry flavor does have a bit of pop to it, but I would like a better texture.

The sauce is pretty potent and also the most unique component. The shortbread pieces you've had before.... now that I think about it, there's really only 3 ingredients in this 5 layer treat and maybe that's adding to my lack of not being impressed. That and the shortbread pieces seem to be in short supply.

Hmmmm, I thought I might fall in love with this one, and I did eat half the container, but it's no chocolate pretzel (I've bought 3 or 4 of those - review here). I think it might be turned up just a little too much. A little too much kick without enough creaminess to round it out.

On Second Scoop: I take a few bites and I think I can quantify the issue now. The "gelato" is too much like a sherbet. I'd rather have a bit more mild, true strawberry gelato that can contrast with the potent swirl. Overall it's not bad, and those looking for a bright treat will probably dig this, but I just don't see myself picking this one up again any time soon.
