Dolcezza Mascarpone & Berries Gelato

So I finally tried Dolcezza this summer, though I had a dilemma when I picked that first pint. Sure, I wound up going with the strawberry, but what first caught my eye was....

Dolcezza Mascarpone & Berries Gelato #005
mascarpone cheese gelato
with a raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry jam swirl

I dig in and wow, this one is kind of the evil twin of High Road's Blueberry Ricotta. That pint had a excellent cheese flavored base but the swirl was pretty mild. Here, it's the base that's mild and a swirl that is oh so bright.

"Bright?" you say, that's my word for when a fruity flavor is both very flavorful, but has a good bit of tart bite to it. I hate saying tart because it's not tart in a bad way. It's just that excellent pop you get with certain quality fruit flavors.

So yeah, I'm a fan.

On Second Scoop: This one is so good, I stretched the pint to three servings just so I could enjoy it more. Because it's so flavorful, you don't need a huge bunch of it to get that afternoon snack pop. I will definitely get this one again.

Verdict?  Excellent
Buy Again?  YES!

Was the base dry/gritty for you? Me and my family both said it was too dry to actually enjoy, even after extended tempering.

I had a little bit of that when I tried the strawberry, but I didn't notice it here.

Yes! It tastes like sand in your mouth and I actually kept coughing as I was eating it. Made it into a milkshake but will probably avoid this one. My bf also got the peanut butter one and it was not as noticeable but still a bit gritty.

Allow it to warm up on the counter a little bit so it gets soft - brings out the flavor more. Didn't notice any grit. Absolutely love this and will buy again. Certified bomb-ass flavor. Found at Natural Grocer's MLK in Portland, OR.

Eating it right now and no grit. Super creamy. Love it
