Talenti Lemon Berry Pie Gelato Layers

[New for 2020 - Retired] According to @candyhunting's research, there are four new Talenti flavors coming at us. I've been searching across several stores and so far I have only found the same one she saw on shelves. I present to you...

Talenti Lemon Berry Pie Gelato Layers
lemon gelato - graham cookies - blueberry sauce
lemon gelato - pie crust pieces

Why do I even show this shot? Maybe because it kind of looks like snow hehehe.

Going in with the big spoon! I only had two big spoon bites on my first try (I was in a hurry) but there's no mistaking how bright this one is --- translation: bright means tart, but in a positive way. Your tastebuds are going to go "whoa" when this lemon gelato hits them. I feel like tarty fruit flavors aren't really big these days (in mainstream products anyway), but I still get a kick out of them.

I didn't get any pie crust bits on that first big spoonful, but they are definitely present (and always fun to look at ofcourse). Is there a huge difference between the graham bits and the crust bits? None that you'll really be able to detect when they are rocking alongside with the strong flavors of the gelato.

Elephant in the room: I'll be honest, I'm a little tired of seeing people complain "why can't they just mix it up properly so I don't have to struggle". 1) if these annoy you, don't buy them! Not every product in the freezer aisle is designed to amuse you. We're not all the same. That's what makes life interesting. 2) It's not that hard to get all the bits on your spoon. Once you make that first big scoop, it's easy to just slide your spoon down vertically (instead of horizontally).

Pro tip: let it temper! This is not their usual gelato so you have to treat it a little differently. It's less solid and has more air. That said, I kind of want to say they tweaked the gelato a little this year, but maybe that's my imagination.

Other flavors: Banana Caramel Crunch, Coffee Cookie Crumble, Coconut Chocolate Cookie

On Second Scoop: Every time I try this gelato, that first scoop makes me want to go "WOOOO!!!". It's just this big shock that really wakes me up. Maybe it's just me, but I'm tempted to label that... a #funfactor. That said, I will throw in the mild critique that the middle of my pint looks like gelato and nothing else, but ahhh, whatever, I'm having fun here.

Verdict?  so bright!
Buy Again?  Yup

  1. I've seen this one and the Coffee Cookie Crumble (Stop & Shop), which is sitting in my freezer, possibly to try tonight! My son and I love trying these flavors because of the fun factor and I agree, getting everything on the spoon isn't that difficult (or a big deal if you can't).

  2. I was hoping this one would be raspberry or something-- a little disappointing to see that this one is blueberry, since I'm not a fan. Still, it *looks* utterly delicious! And some of the upcoming flavors sound much more promising to me. :) Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

  4. @kotoko: stop & shop (giant) for me.

    @eric: report back stat! :)

@anon: i wouldn't get to hung up on which berry it is, the blueberry-ness is not super specific when working with the other flavors.

  5. Dubba, it was delicious. It may have just been me, but the vanilla gelato dominated the coffee a bit, though I didn't mind it. It was the think chocolate size that really made it pop and was by far my favorite part (my 7-year old son devoured his first third of the container and can't wait to eat a little more). I'd put that sauce on any ice cream and find it delicious.

Hopefully they get this one by you soon!
