Gifford's Peanut Butter Pie Ice Cream

I can't tell you how long I've waited to try this ice cream. It's been literal years. It popped up on the scene forever ago but it was never anywhere practical. I would only see it at Wegman's and I wasn't about to bring home a big quart of peanut butter ice cream. So, I waited. And waited. And waited. And then, the Stop & Shop by work decided to start carrying Gifford's. It's only one shelf and there's only like four options, but one of those four is a fresh delivery of....

I can't tell you how excited I am to finally open this ice cream. I love peanut butter ice cream and I love peanut butter cups.... and graham too? Gotta put the Pie in Peanut Butter Pie somehow!

Ok, Ok....

Money Shot!

Can't remember the last time I said this, but it was love at first bite. It's got that pb flavor I love with a graham kick to boot. The graham just helps amplify and compliment the flavor. It's great.

This isn't some junk lightweight frozen dairy dessert either, this is mainstream ice cream. To be honest, I think having it be a denser super premium ice cream would take a little of the magic away. To me, there is this sweet spot where texture and flavor overlap, each accentuating the other. This is one of those flavors.

I chow down through my first serving with bits and hunks of cups in every bite. The swirl is scattered about and hard to see but you'll sense it rounding out the flavor in every bite. I have no idea why more companies don't use this concept. Chocolate & PB are great, but add in the flavor and texture of graham to make this an amazing treat.

Sure, I'm biased, it's my kind of peanut butter, my kind of cups, and my kind of graham. No one thing sticking out, everything just coming together great. I could try shoving in a second serving by why not savor the greatness here. Well done Gifford's! This is probably my favorite flavor from you now.

On Second Scoop: The followup servings weren't quite as spectacular as the first serving, but they were still good. Unfortunately there isn't as much graham swirl as I wish there was, but this flavor is still satisfying and delicious. It's just been too long since I had a fun peanut butter cup flavor and so this one hits the spot every time.

Verdict?  Hit the spot!
Buy Again?  Yup!

  1. This is hands down my fav ice cream flavor of all time. I tried the Campfire Smores and it's also good. I buy it at Shoprite when they have it on sale for $2.88!
