Lucerne Caramel Whipped Topping

Last year, I was very excited to discover that chocolate whip cream is a thing! I was so excited that, well, apparently I never blogged about it. How did that happen? It was all over my instagram and tumblr accounts. There was also a minty whipped topping available at Target but I don't think I bought it. Anyway, I was at Shaws, and what do I see? Well, peppermint and....

Lucerne Caramel Whipped Topping

Yeah, it's kind of weird on first sampling. This flavor is in such a light setting gives it almost a burnt note too it. It's fairly flavorful, but my brain is very use to the thickness of caramel, so to not have that is well, weird. Am I making sense? I miss my buttery notes!

So this is the start of the first sundae I made. I wanted to know if black raspberry and caramel went together, and surprisingly, once I added some biscoff cookies and caramel sauce, it was actually pretty good. Overall I'll say it was a good test run.

On Second Scoop: So, on the second try, I got some straight vanilla and chocolate ice cream and tried the whipped topping with both. Yeah, no synergy here. While the caramel sauce was helping out last time, the product is left to fight on it's own here and it just doesn't work for me. Plain whipped cream goes with everything, this does not. I don't want to say it's a bad product because it's not, but you definitely have to watch your pairings. It's not some magical elixir, you still need to do a bit of the leg work to round things out in your bowl.

Verdict?  not bad
Buy Again?  iunno

  2. You need a good Bananas Foster ice cream for something like this. Maybe even a peanut butter flavored ice cream.

  6. The secret is to combine the caramel whipped cream with caramel syrup on top of a mug of hot apple cider. Heaven on earth.
