Happy 4th of July!

Hey everybody! don't fret, I'm still here. I know I haven't posted in several days now, but that doesn't mean there aren't 5-6 posts in my head. This has arguably been one of the toughest weeks at work since I started my career. The good news is I'm in one piece and have been enjoying way too much ice cream on this glorious (and much deserved) three day weekend.

Actually, while I've been "on hiatus" (i.e. too busy and too tired to post), I've been thinking about my posting skills. I just don't have the gift of gab, nor do I excel as small talk, but that doesn't mean I can't be more thorough. I want to write a review that not only gets you to try new flavors, but makes you want to come back and comment on your experience so everyone knows what the general consensus is on a product. Ok, let's see if I can take things up a notch....

I've been trying to lay off the midnight ice cream snacks since they kind of, ummm, add up, but it's hard to disagree with the fact that this is a great weekend for ice cream. You know, I'm a lucky guy. Not only is my mom a good cook, but so is my wife's mom (and they make totally separate dishes, so that means a very wide range of tasty food between the two of them). Well, my wife's mom went out on a limb and made a Peanut Butter Fudge Ice Cream Pie (similar to the one described here). Basically you take a graham cracker crust, thrown down a layer of peanut butter and honey, and then top that with a nice thick layer of vanilla ice cream. To finish it off, you drizzle some fudge and sprinkled generously with chocolate chips. She definitely gets points for effort and creativity, but even though it was only a 1/4 of honey, it could be argued that it felt like too much. No worries though because the great thing is, you could totally do this recipe 137 different ways 'til you get it just right ....I'm thinking chocolate graham cracker crust to start.

Ok, I'm going to do my best to post as much as I can tomorrow, which will hopefully include a trip to DQ and a Jon Donaire ice cream cake showdown, woohoo!
