Dairy Queen Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake

[New for late summer 2020] The Mrs and I finally made it back to DQ for the first time in a very long time (two years!). There wasn't anything in particular that I wanted from the menu, but then I noticed a sign for this shake and I knew we should get one to try.

DQ Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake
pumpkin, milk, and cookie butter blended in to soft serve
(and topped with nutmeg)

It look's good right? Granted it's not 100% blended, but it's so busy.... actually, why is it so busy? This is supposed to be cookie butter.... anyway

So I take a few sips and I'm not really blown away or anything. I get some pumpkin flavoring, and I think I taste some cookie butter, but nothing crazy. Hmmmm. Also, it's very thin, but technically our pumpkin pie blizzards aren't exactly thick either. In fact, I'm kind of wearing my blizzard at the moment because it's melted a bunch while I was trying to take pictures of the shake.

Anyway, I flip to the blizzard and inhale that. It's good, though I do remember it being better. Granted it's been a few years, but I remember it being stronger in flavor and thicker in texture.

Still hungry, I go back to the "shake". Wow, does it taste differently now... and not in a good way. It's hard to describe, though my wife says it's the nutmeg. Basically I can't really taste the pumpkin anymore and all I taste is this somewhat strong but so-so cookie butter flavor... I think... to be honest, I don't want to drink it at this point. It's the consistency of milk at this point and I'm just not enjoying it.

I hate to say it, but we wound up tossing out half of the small shake. Neither of us were interested, and despite my disdain for wasting food, it just seemed pointless to continue on.

Hopefully a few of you have tried this and can add some context for our experience.

Verdict?  what happened?
Buy Again?  very doubtful
