[Announced Early 2025] You know how I mentioned an 18th anniversary post on Instagram? Well, this is what I posted. 18 ice cream bars for 18 years of blogging courtesy of the marketing team for Wells Enterprises (aka Blue Bunny). They didn't send it for that reason, but funny coincidence right? Ok, let's get these opened up!

Baby Ruth: chewy nougat flavored ice cream with roasted peanuts & caramel and a chocolatey coating
Butterfinger: Butterfinger flavored ice cream with a crunchy Butterfinger layer and chocolatey coating
100 Grand: caramel flavored ice cream with a caramel layer and chocolatey coating with crispy crunchies

Fun times ahead!

...and suddenly I am very hungry!
Since I have unwrapped all three to take pictures, it seems wrong to not eat
all three right now (even though the note in the dry ice filled delivery box says to let them temper (in the freezer I assume) for an hour first). Meh. Let's start snacking!
The Butterfinger bar is the most unique and easily my favorite of the three. I
was not expecting how fun and gritty that Butterfinger layer would be. It
really does give off Butterfinger vibes, and how can that not be a easy win?
The 100 Grand bar is the sweetest of the three. Honestly, the first bite hit
me pretty hard. I was not expecting that sugary blast. If you want numbers,
it's 34% of your daily added sugar while Butterfinger is 26% and baby ruth is
28%. That's 31% more sugar, so not surprising that I picked up on it when having it right after the other bar. Still a fun bar ofcourse.
I want to call the Baby Ruth bar the most classic of the three, and that is
meant as a compliment, not an insult. It's a balanced bar with a classic
structure. No sugary blast, nor a gritty blast. It's just classic ice cream
bar fun.
It can be a little hard to differentiate all three when eaten together, but I
think I got a really good sense of what each one brings to the table. They are
certainly all fun, and I'm not just saying that because they were free. I'm saying it because I love candy bar inspired ice cream bars and these are three fun examples of that.
If you've had these, be sure to leave a comment! (I should probably also do a post about the new Almond Joy and Reese's bars, as well as the new Snickers minis lineup)
On Second Scoop: Hopefully I'll sneak in the second serving soon.
Verdict? I would try Butterfinger first
BuyAgain? I would give them my money for these!

I was excited for the Butterfinger but just couldn't get behind that crispy PB in frozen form for some reason. I enjoyed the 100 Grand fine (the crispy-studded shell especially) and just wasn't intrigued enough to get the Baby Ruth. It sounded too similar to the Snickers ice cream bars... would you say there's a big difference?
ReplyDeleteI can totally see that opinion on the Butterfinger bar. It shocked me at first, but then I was like "wait, I think I really like this!"
DeleteI understand the appeal too... just different strokes, I guess. How about the Baby Ruth? Was it distinctly different (and in particular, any better?) than the Snickers bars?
DeleteIt didnt feel fair to compare because it's been so long since I've had one. If I had to go off my fading memory alone, I'd argue that the caramel plays a bigger factor in the snickers (or maybe just the overall combo pops a bit better)
DeleteNo problem, I think that's all I need to know to decide against an unnecessary purchase. Thanks!
DeleteWhen you said they needed to temper for an hour first was that en error? I've tried the Butterfinger and loved it! Because of your review, I'll be sure to try the rest!
ReplyDeleteI tweaked the review to make it more clear that the tempering was related to them shipping in dry ice. Usually ice cream pints say something like "let sit in freezer for 24 hours before consuming".
DeleteOh wow . We loved these. Butterfinger was our fav. Then we just had almond joy last night and loved it. Our third fav was 100 grand. Quick, portable, two thumbs up for a family with three teens
ReplyDeleteHA! Me and my buds adored snickers ice cream bars as teens, so I full support this opinion!
DeleteWould love to see a cross section of each. They sound great!
ReplyDeleteI will try to get that added!
