New City Microcreamery Cake Batter

I wasn't sure which New City flavor would be next, but then I got to scoop....

New City Microcreamery Cake Batter Ice Cream
sweet cream ice cream with real birthday cake batter and tons of rainbow sprinkles

I do see plenty of sprinkles!

First bite: interesting. it definitely has a cake batter vibe versus just a flavoring of it.

Second bite: sprinkles are crunchy (sprinkle crunchy not like pretzel or toffee crunchy)

Third bite: the flavor is pretty strong, but in a homestyle way, not a fake way.

Fourth bite: I bet you could get away with just a few bites to cure a sugar craving.

Fun looking, right?

I think the sprinkles are doing a good job of distracting me from the fact that there is no cake in this confetti cake ice cream. [Not that I'm saying that some cake wouldn't be great right now]

I can see some people being sad that there appears to be no solid cake batter swirl to dive in to, but on the other hand, there is something to be said for a nice even flavor. I'm getting consistently flavored bites with every tasty spoonful.

I'm probably enjoying this one more because I am ok with the texture coming from the plentiful sprinkles, but it's ok if that's not your thing. The texture they create isn't for everyone.

I'm calling this another win for New City. I'd take a pint of this over a quart and a half of some main stream cake nonsense any day.

Ooooo, it's a got a lingering bit of sugar high going on even after the pint is back in the freezer.

Disclaimer: a friend gave me this pint, but I would have enjoyed it even if I did have to pay for it.

On Second Scoop: still fun. the more sprinkles, the better.

Verdict?  fun
