I bought a carton of Breyers ice cream...

Our schedule of eating ice cream in the house has definitely changed as we get older. I cant even remember the last time that I had ice cream three times in one day..... but seriously, ice cream changed and so did we. I'm still all over the place in terms of what I grab from the freezer, but my wife has gone back to mainstream ice cream as her daily driver. For the most part, this meant Turkey Hill ice cream, but something changed very recently. Cholesterol and saturated fat are now gone from their frozen dairy dessert! Skim milk is now the main ingredient, and then that is mildly supported by milk and coconut oil whereas they were using regular milk with a dash of nonfat milk mixed in. Polydextrose was replaced by maltodextrin, which is probably why the fiber count dropped to zero as well. What does all that mean? Well, it means that for the first time in over four years, I bought a carton of....

Breyers vanilla, chocolate, strawberry ice cream

Such a small container these days.

It looks normal enough.

Strawberry first.... it's very mild. Vanilla second.... it's very mild. Chocolate third.... uggg, I do not like this flavoring at all. I'm not even sure how to describe it.

It's nice that this qualifies as ice cream, but ummm, what's the point if there isnt much flavor outside the meh chocolate?

I'd rather have more of the other two flavors, but if only chocolate has flavor, I guess it makes sense to have it be most prevalent.

At least the texture is decent!

On Second Scoop: I'm still pretty meh on this one. Two thirds doesn't have enough flavor and one third has the wrong flavor. That said, I'm willing to try another carton because the texture aint terrible and the ingredient list is short. At least it qualifies as ice cream, and that's gotta be worth something!

On Third Scoop: With the strawberry and vanilla gone, I mixed half of the remaining chocolate with some Friendly's black raspberry ice cream to make a shake. It was ok....

On Final Scoop: With the last bit of chocolate left, I tried mixing it with some Cherry Vanilla Haagen-Dazs, and you know what? It wasn't bad at all! In fact, I went out and bought a container of Breyer's strawberry ice cream. Just one problem.... apparently someone let this carton partially melt at some point. Ugggg. Not Breyers fault ofcourse, but uggg. I should have went with the homemade vanilla maybe.... or a different store.

For the comments: When's the last time you had Breyer's?

Verdict?  texture is better than the flavor
Buy Again?  not this flavor
