On the spoonfuls where one gets no peanut butter, the banana is a bit flat--I actually very lightly sprinkled some salt on it and it hugely improved the base, bringing it to life. I understand why HD might have gone light on the salt in the banana portion, though. The PB really isn't a swirl. It is gobs --sometimes a tablespoon's worth of more -- of what tastes like straight up peanut butter from a jar. I can appreciate others' comments that the banana isn't very flavorful: combined with the PB, one gets no banana taste at all. I would have liked this a lot more if the PB had been thinner and distributed more thoroughly throughout the pint. I just didn't find this very balanced.AmyJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10230991804696094425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-74695021742422420032019-10-17T21:06:01.306-04:002019-10-17T21:06:01.306-04:00I bought this for my husband a year ago from WalMa...I bought this for my husband a year ago from WalMart for his birthday just on a chance he'd like it as he loves both bananas and peanut butter. He went crazy for it. He now pretty much won't eat any other icecream. He LOVES it and tells everyone he meets(even cashiers) about it. It's expensive but he found it on sale a few times and bought 8 pints. Unfortunately now he can't find it everywhere. He did find it at one store but it's expensive. He doesn't want to be without it in the freezer so he always had a stash of it. He hunts far and wide. Now due to unavailability and price, he's cut back much to his disappointment. I don't like banana flavor in anything but I did think this was very, very good.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-4944632685510408462018-04-17T15:10:04.565-04:002018-04-17T15:10:04.565-04:00Late review of this. First, the banana ice cream didn't taste like banana at all. It could have been vanilla for all the banana flavor it had. Second, I didn't like the texture of the peanut butter swirl. It was just too grainy and hard. Definitely not for me.

MichelleAKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-48190107034981716502018-04-08T06:33:42.817-04:002018-04-08T06:33:42.817-04:00The banana is not a pure banana its more of a laff...The banana is not a pure banana its more of a laffy taffy tasting banana which may throw some people off. Arguably I would put Steve's Banana Pudding and Wegmans Banana Peel'N as superior banana bases after trying this one. If you do not mind a subtle and lightly flavored banana base this will be top tier for most people. The PB Swirl is outstanding it reminded me of Turkey Hill with how thick and crunchy it was. This was not a typical PB Swirl which is creamy and salty it had that extra texture to it which made it different from the rest of the ice cream market.Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09520585779827314289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-27588770299769676682018-03-26T21:52:30.668-04:002018-03-26T21:52:30.668-04:00Ha, I think you two just showed what I was trying ...Ha, I think you two just showed what I was trying to say. It's more mild for people who don't love banana, but not surprising that a banana fan would be underwhelmed. I think the mild banana and the PB swirl won me over. My kids truly loved it. I preferred it to like a chunky monkey Ben and Jerry's by far. It seemed much less potent. Now I really want to try the other decadent flavors as soon as I can find them!Anne Suttonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09519033840367690707noreply@blogger.com
