Boy was that awful, this stuff can't even be considered ice cream any longer. It was like paste and it didn't even feel like ice cream in my mouth. They did change it because I remember it being real dairy ice cream. They need to fold up shop and go away now. I used to go to breakfast there every now and again until they installed their express ordering before you sit down at your table disaster, just weird and trying to cut down on their wait staff. It's a shame because Friendly's used to be a great "home town" feeling place. Not going to bother again but like I said, time to call it quits for sure.smaybaby66https://www.blogger.com/profile/15538083556526785980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-59923805681338828312019-01-24T18:25:40.176-05:002019-01-24T18:25:40.176-05:00I buy Friendly's vanilla, chocolate & straw...I buy Friendly's vanilla, chocolate & strawberry ice cream. I stopped buying it for a few months. I lost ten pounds. That was good. I recently bought a new container. It is awful! Disgusting! So I decide to Google "did Friendly's change their recipe?". That is how I found these posts. I, too, will never buy it again. Friendly's is going the same way that Eddy's did years ago. I don't buy that either.

Thanks for the blog. Believe me, I wish I'd seen these reviews first or I never would have bought any of this brand. As it is, I wasted money on 3 cartons; butter pecan (very gummy, very few but bitter tasting pecan pieces and barely any of that "butter flavor" that makes this flavor popular), fudge ripple (also gummy) and chocolate peanut butter cup (also gummy)
The first thing I noticed was that it's gooey and gummy when dipped and bitten into. This ice cream really can't be licked, it must be bitten because of the weird, gross consistency. I thought I was getting a deal because the size of the carton was larger than my usual brand. I'll pay more for the smaller usual brand (Mayfield here in NC)
This should not be called ice cream. It doesn't taste like ice cream, it doesn't dip like ice cream and it doesn't "eat" like ice cream. It's plain nasty. Very disappointed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-81391376891915767522016-02-20T17:04:55.852-05:002016-02-20T17:04:55.852-05:00Excellent, I know that I send you a ton of request...Excellent, I know that I send you a ton of requests but I really like your reviews so I am eager to read your take on the Breyers ice cream cake I send you the picture of (it says ice cream so hopefully its better than most of their stuff) and these new cups!Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09569544046634558629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384329692727378622.post-51422997466170595482016-02-20T15:05:52.072-05:002016-02-20T15:05:52.072-05:00@Deb: I've seen a few of the newly designed cu...@Deb: I've seen a few of the newly designed cups and checking the website, yup, you're right, 4 new flavors (for a grand total of 16 cups now!). I want to say this is a change that has started in the back half of the year, though we don't know if they are going flavor by flavor or just messed with all of them at once. At this point I am afraid that all their flavors might go this way. I can already think of at least a half dozen that are like this. I kind of feel guilty because I've been buying Friendlys for my wife and daughter while eating the all natural turkey hill, and my wife said something like "yeah, it just hasn't been that good recently".

With Breyers awful and now friendly's (technically Edy's has been better than they were before), that leaves us with Blue Bunny and Turkey Hill as mainstream choices that aren't gummy yet.
