The agony of defeat

Oh, the agony of defeat...and hunger is thy victor! hehehehe. We just got back from a family friendly Christmas party. Oh, it's nice to see the snow outside, even if it did make the trek a little rough (I can't really complain, we didn't have to go all that far, it takes 15 minutes on a normal day)

Among tonight's treats was that which caught everyone's eye, a very tasty looking eclair ring. I love eclairs and I always have my eyes open for one, but I've never seen one in the shape of a giant donut. The temptation to have dessert first was overwhelming, but I was good. The night moved on as the kids did their thing. People picked at the dessert table, but there was no knife or pie server, and so, the eclair ring remained untouched!

This looks like a job for dessert man! danananananana dessert man! I couldn't take the temptation anymore and decided to make my move. I grabbed a plastic knife from the dinner area and popped open the box. Mmmmmm, this thing looks fantastic. There's a dark looking chocolate ontop and it's stuffed with eclair cream. I put the knife in ...and it gets stuck, but dessert man does not give up that easily! I try for about another minute ...and then I give up (sorry!) The plastic knife is no match for the still frozen dessert. Victory would have tasted so sweet.

No worries! The real silverware was broken out shortly there after and our gracious hostess sent us home with a nice slice of the giant eclair. It was still frozen by the time we got home, but I took a crack at it anyway. I like it, it's pretty good, though I would prefer a bit less cream in the middle. Too much cream just makes the whole thing just a bit too rich and weighs the whole thing down. Wait, what am I talking about? This is an eclair, since when are they light and fluffy? I'm afraid to say I'm full and I can't finish it. I gave it another half hour to defrost, but I only managed a few more bites before being full again. If you ever see one, give it a try, just make sure it's thawed.

(Yup, I did also have some black raspberry ice cream earlier today, but I needed a little blogging practice to get things going again)
