Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Buns Ice Cream Review

2016 Update: I just wanted to say hi to all the people who continue to stumble upon this review. Now I may be a little biased because I do adore cinnamon, but this is still easily one of my very favorite Ben & Jerry's flavors. It's just so.... perfect. Please give it a try if you've never had it. Original review after the break.

Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Buns Ice Cream
Caramel Ice Cream with Cinnamon Bun Dough & a Cinnamon Streusel Swirl

[Original 2008 Review] Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of Cinnamon. Cinnamon cereals and treats for breakfast, cinnamon applesauce, and "grandpa's oven" cinnamon swirl bread from super Walmart, mmmm, good stuff ...but cinnamon in ice cream? It seems like everyone is releasing various incarnations of cinnamonny goodness in their ice cream right now.

Now keep in mind that it's been a long time since I bought Ben and Jerry's, and I even waited until I was at Walmart so that it would only set me back $3 for a pint. Also keep in mind, had I looked at the nutrition label, I probably wouldn't have bought this. At 290 calories for a half cup, 140 calories from fat, this stuff isn't even remotely healthy ....but man is it tasty!! yes, pick up your spoons and dig into this pint of cinnamonny goodness.

The base is a an excellent caramel ice cream. I was afraid it might be too sweet, but it's super mild and oh so creamy. There's a nice cinnamon streusel swirl blended in just right. And then, the best part, wonderful chunks of fresh cinnamon bun dough. My only concern is that when dabbling in this area of flavorings, the taste may get a little old after awhile, but I'll let you know after I have some more tonight.

On Second Scoop: Wow, this ice cream really is good. I was still kind of full from dinner, but I snuck a few bites and oh they were tasty. I just can't get over the Cinnamon bun dough chunks, absolutely fantastic!

Nutrition Info: 290 cals, 140 of them from fat. 15g of fat, 9 of them saturated. 1% fiber, 4 g of protein.

    1. don't freak out just yet. it's still listed on their website and it's an excellent flavor, I'd be shocked if they canned it honestly.

  4. A lot of individuals love this one but I don't and I wish I did. I've bought this twice now and the second time I tried it, I kept an open mind by thinking I will like it but I still haven't. I wish the ice cream was sweeter and the cinnamon flavor stronger throughout. I think B&J's should have gone with a brown sugar and cinnamon ice cream base instead of the swirl or a caramel cinnamon streusel base instead of the swirl because then the ice cream base flavor would be much sweeter and would have a stronger cinnamon flavor, much like the flavor of leftover milk from a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.

  8. I have finally after 1-2 years found this near me again. I have to travel further than I normally would, which sucks worse when they're sold out. But this is my favorite Ben and jerry's flavor and um glad I've found it again.
